Fluid Being in the Forest

I’ve been hunting the Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania since I was 12. My grandfather had a camp up there. One year back in the early 90s we were all up for opening day of buck season. We always went spotting the night before for something to do. I was around 14 years old at the time, and so were 2 of my cousins. My uncle and an older cousin took us spotting at night around the area. They rode up front of the truck and us 3 kids rode in the back. We pulled into a gravel pit which had a high bank on the back side about 15 to 20 feet up on a slope. We usually see deer when we pull in, so I was looking through the cab of the truck and each cousin was looking out the back side windows looking forward. In the headlights, I seen what was about 4 or 5 feet in length and maybe a foot around- almost cylindrical in shape, but was fluid-like. It looked like the alien in the movie the abyss.

It shot up the bank on an angle, then back down, then back up and was gone. I came back inside the truck bed, as it had a cap on. Just as both cousins did almost simultaneously. We all looked at each other and said “did you see that?”. We all seen the same thing at 3 different angles, but later when we asked our uncle and cousin who were sitting up front, they said they hadn’t seen anything.

None of us could figure out what we saw.

Later on, a few years ago, we were on our way up to camp and we were listening to Coast to Coast when we heard David Palides on, talking Missing 411. He talked about the predator in the woods segment that Jan Maccabee saw in Ohio while hunting, and it sent chills down my spine, as it felt like the same thing I saw many years ago.

RELATED ACCOUNT – JAN MACCABEE’S GLIMMER MAN

It was Wednesday, September 29, the next to last day in September and hunting season (for deer) in Ohio was just a 4 days old. The day started cool and damp then became a beautiful, warm day with a nice sunset. Jan was anxious to begin hunting. Her method of hunting consisted of waiting and watching while seated in a “tree stand.” The seat of her stand is at the top of a 15 ft ladder. Her seat is in the northwestern corner of a many-acre wood that is surrounded by large planted fields and low density residential areas. Her seat faces the east and is surrounded by on all sides by trees.

Suddenly the woods went quiet. Noise stopped. The silence was “weird.” It so surprised and unnerved her (Jan) that she wrote a text message to her friend (thereby documenting this event):

‘Something is wrong. The woods just went to a dead silence. No squirrels, no birds, no crickets. Is odd!’ (6:23 PM EDT)

She thought a coyote or maybe a black panther or some predator animal caused the quiet as she knows (as hunters know) that when a predator such as a bear, for example, enters an area the other animals tend to become quiet. Then she became aware that a weird visual “effect” was moving rightward across her field of view at an apparent distance of maybe fifteen to twenty feet. She described it as if looking through “saran wrap.” Perhaps a more apt comparison would be like looking at a mirage above a hot road. She compared this distortion of the scene as being somewhat like the effect of the invisible creature in the PREDATOR movie! This distortion was at a higher altitude than her 15 ft above the ground, perhaps about 25 ft above the ground.. She took her glasses off and rubbed her right eye thinking at first she had a floater (a mote in the eye). But after rubbing it was still there and not a floater.

It moved to her right from about 15 degrees to the right of straight ahead to about 45 degrees to the right (see the diagram below, not to scale). Then it disappeared…things looked normal and she could hear the normal sounds again.”
